Oh, M'God!!

It seems the Honorable Mayor is really trying to do something worthwhile!  Based on an article in today's Trenton Times, he wants to contact Amazon about having a mega warehouse right here in Trenton!  Not a bad idea.  He also wants to form a commission/committee/group to work on this project.  OK, Blogolanders, this may work; however, our Honorable Mayor must avoid his thug pals, his no-count buddies, and really, really select people who know what they are talking about - you know, the intelligent, educated, knowledgable people.  I have my fingers crossed.

This was a topic of discussion yesterfday on Facebook. The general concensus was:

a) It doesn't require a press announcement or forming a committee. This is the job of the Economic Development staff.
b) The acting Housing and Economic Development Director is probably the last person that should be contacting any outside businesses about locating in Trenton.
c) As you point out, the mayor's usual list of associates should be kept as far away from the Amazon people as possible.
d) When all is said and done, there really isn't a suitable site for this project in Trenton. The mere size of the parcel of land is problematic as is the easy access to/from a highway system for the truck traffic.

Nice thought, but a probable non-starter.

Of course, a densely packed city with one (1) limited access highway (not to mention "limited" in other ways) running through it is an extremely attractive spot for a couple million S.F. of warehouse space. Amazon will trip all over itself for the chance to work with Trenton, I am certain.

Trenton makes a breakthrough. Again.
